The SDF National Executive Committee, NEC, has readmitted the Mayor to the Kumba II Council Martin Forcha Ndobegang, back into the party.
The decision to readmit Forcha Ndobegang is contained in a resolution the SDF NEC took on Saturday, February 20, 2016, after 28 months after he was dismissed from the party in November 2013.
Ndobegang had challenged former Mayor Ferdinand Asapngu during the 2013 internal party voting to emerge as Mayor contrary to the instructions of the Investiture Committee.
In reaction to the actions of the Councillors for voting a different person as Mayor, Ndobegang was slammed with the dreaded Article 8.2 “for indulging in anti-party activities”.
On Sunday, February 21, 2016, SDF militants lined up to receive the Mayor from Bamenda.
The Post gathered that besides his readmission into the party, Forcha Ndobegang was equally appointed into a committee set up to strengthen the credibility of ongoing reorganisation of the various SDF Districts in theSouthwest Region.
A political observer described Mayor Ndobegang’s readmission as a rare decision of the NEC.
The observer said he might have won the heart of the party hierarchy for maintaining sealed lips after he was dismissed.
With the NEC decision coming at a time when the SDF is at the heart of restructuring its Districts, many believe that the readmission of the Mayor will speak volume in terms of political alliances.
After his dismissal from the party, Forcha Ndobegang was replaced by Lawrence Ngwassong as Chairman of Fiango East Central Ward, in an election supervised by First Deputy Mayor Promise Chia Fulin July 2014.
