Sangmelima firefighters rescue centre goes operational

The center inaugurated on Friday by the Mindef was constructed for over 480 million F. The presentation was done by the brigadier general, commanding the national Corps of fire-fighters, Mahamat Ahmed Kotoko. This structure is thus now operational.

The Commander of the corps explained to the personalities present, with their head the Minister delegate at the Presidency in charge of defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o, presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the new structure. The Centre, which was built on an area of 1, 842 m2, has a life zone or zone of privacy.

The people of Sangmélima still have in memory the sad night from 9th to 10th May 2011, when the city market was consumed by flames.

On behalf of the population, mayor André Noël Essian, extended his gratitude to the president of the Republic, for having made possible the construction of this structure which is futuristic.

For his part, Mindef commended them for the fact that the rescue centre of Sangmelima was realized before the contractual deadlines.

Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o, and his colleague of higher education, Jacques Fame Ndongo and the Governor of the southern region, Jules Marcellin Ndjaga, indicated that this structure is timely "to realize the option taken by the president of the Republic to protect people from disaster."
