School reopening effective nationwide

Nursery, primary, secondary and high schools have came alive again with the activities of pupils and students as of September 8, 2014.

Enthusiasm re-emerged in most nooks and crannies of the country with government-owned, lay private and mission nursery, primary, secondary as high schools bubbled with life as hundreds of thousands of pupils and students returned to classrooms.

From Mapanja in the South West Region to Mora in the Far North, across the Guiwa Yangama refugee camp in the East region, school effectively began with school children renewing ties with classmates after a three-month separation.

If the past week has been spent fine-tuning the harps of teaching and administrative staff, this week should be the beginning of seriousness in a context coloured by the need to improve performance by at least five per cent, as per Secondary Education Minister, and for schools to be at the service of human development through quality teaching.
