Second phase of Pady2 campaign launched in Yaoundé

The second phase of an awareness campaign began Tuesday in Yaounde. The urban community of Yaoundé began the implementation of the second phase of the sanitation project in the city, referred to as "Pady2". It will revolve around three components. First the development of sanitation facilities with the construction of a main channel on the Mfoundi about six km.

Development of the tract on the shore, the construction bridges and walkways, the treatment of domestic garbage, etc. are also proposed in this first part of the work. The strengthening of health and hygiene activities is the second component. It will directly affect families with the strengthening of the means to fight against water-borne diseases.

It is in this section of the project that five district hospitals will see the reinforced of their technical platforms. Cité verte, Biyem-Assi, Elig-Essono, Efoulan and Ahala are all in the project area.

Pady 2 devotes its third component in support of the intervention and the project management structures: associations, businesses active in the sanitation of the city or the collection and treatment of waste, those working in the flood prevention will benefit from the implementation of 'Pady 2 '.

There is also within this framework plan of studies on the prevention of floods and the operationalization of the management of solid waste in the city of Yaoundé.

The zone of influence of the "Pady2" covers the entire region around the Mfoundi River with an influence on nearly the entire city. It is funded to the tune of 78.3 billion by the African Development Bank (20.19%), the Agence française de développement (67%), and the Global Environment Facility (2.59%). The State of Cameroon makes a contribution of about 10%.
