Seven armed robbers have reportedly been arrested by the police of the 11th arrondissement in Douala.
Elements of the police in Douala arrested these men following investigations on several bank robberies that had occurred recently. These attacks include that of an engineering company in the industrial zone of Bassa on Sunday, April 19, 2015 and the Société d'aménagement de Douala (SAD) at Bonapriso two days later.
When the alleged gang struck for the third time at Bassa, they emptied a safe, and made away with cameras, laptops, after locking up the security personnel and french expatriate officer of the company. According to sources, the robbers were unable to open the safe at SAD.
But, in either case, some clues were found by the police which helped to track down the criminals who had previously escaped.
A security guard was arrested by the judicial police while a phone that was lost at the scene in Bassa helped the police arrest the first suspect.
