Shumas Cameroon Donates to G.H.S Kiyan

A three-classroom block with an attached administrative office, a four-room toilet block with hand washing facilities, 45 benches, a functional garden, three tables and three chairs all valued at FCFA 10 million were donated by the Strategic Humanitarian Services Cameroon (SHUMAS) to Government High School (GHS), Kiyan on the of April 12, 2014.

Handing over the school infrastructure, the Director of SHUMAS, Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka said SHUMAS has worked together with the Kiyan Community and their partners, Building Schools for Africa U.K, which provided the funding to realise the project.

Speaking at the occasion which was presided over by a representative of the Bui Administration, Nzie Elie Armand and attended by the Chairlady of Building Schools for Africa U.K, Madam Marianne Johnson, as well as a representative of the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education for Bui, Lionel Maishu Malung, Ndzerem Stephen revealed that SHUMAS has constructed and rehabilitated close to 700 classrooms over the national territory and equipped them with benches, tables and chairs.

Ndzerem said in the domain of education, SHUMAS constructs, rehabilitates and equips dilapidated school buildings with toilets, hand washing facilities and teachers' offices. He called on the Community of Kiyan to carefully and seriously protect the facilities so that later generations can benefit from them.

On her part, the Principal of G.H.S Kiyan, Maurice Viban in his address, thanked SHUMAS and her partners for the gift which has come to enhance learning and relieve the parents and the State of Cameroon of the burden of classroom infrastructural provision.

The representative of the Divisional delegate of Secondary Education Mr. Lionel Maishu Malung in his speech said the traces of SHUMAS goodwill can be seen in G.B.S.S. Kimbo, GSS Buh, G.H.S Nkar and now in G.H.S Kiyan. He thanked SHUMAS for thinking of the education of the Cameroonian child. The Director of SHUMAS and her partners received souvenirs from G.H.S. Kiyan in the form of caps and traditional bags.
