Soboum, Douala: Former detainee steals FCFA 250,000

Romeo T., 31, a former detainee of the New Bell Prison in Douala was arrested yesterday, October 6, 2015, for stealing a lady’s handbag.

According to the police, the bag of the Filipino lady was snatched by two men armed with daggers, while she was taking a walk with her boyfriend in one of the streets of the Soboum neighbourhood of Douala on October 5, 2015.

The handbag contained FCFA 150,000, 180 Euros (about FCFA 118,000) an ATM card, a passport, residence permit, a cell phone and digital camera.

One of the suspects, Romeo T., was picked up yesterday by operatives of the Douala 8th District Public Security Station. The whereabouts of his colleague are still unknown.
