Socam employees work 20 months without salary

Since the month of February 2013, employees of Socam have not been paid. They decided to claim their arrears on Tuesday in Yaounde. They thus turned to the Minister of Arts and Culture (Minac) Ama Tutu Muna.

According to one angry employee, the Minister promised to pay wages at a meeting held September 2, 2014.

These employees staged a sit-in protest in front of the services premises.

The claimed money was used for recovery in relation to copyright. These employees complained that four distributions of recoveries have occurred since the beginning of their ordeal, but they were transferred solely to artists.

For its part, the Committee for recovery established on January 21, 2014 wondered what Socam employees were doing in Minac.

"Employees were not working at Minac. Why will they demonstrate there?", queried Ambroise Messi.

The participants of the Tuesday sit-in protest threatened a strike that could begin this Thursday in the capital.
