South West Chiefs Reiterate Faith in Paul Biya

They met in Buea on November 27 to finalise mobilisation plans to receive the Head of State.

Traditional rulers of the South West Region have assured President Paul Biya of their unflinching support and their active mobilisation of the population to give him the warmest welcome to Buea for the awaited feast of the 50th anniversary of Cameroon's reunification.

Chaired by His Majesty Senator Fon Fontem Njifua, Paramount Ruler of Lebang (Fontem) and current President of the South West Chiefs' Conference (SWECC), the local monarchs issued the motion of support during their enlarged executive meeting in Buea on 27 November, 2013.

In the motion, the custodians of culture from all six administrative Divisions of the South West Region praised President Paul Biya's masterful and charismatic leadership, his decision to celebrate Cameroon's reunification golden jubilee in Buea, the face-lift of Buea towards the event, the announced agreement between the South Korean Consortium and Cameroon Government to build the multi-functional quay at Isongo, the G-Power cement factory and the giant Fertilizer Plant in the Limbe industrial zone.

While the traditional rulers fine-tuned plans to mobilise their populations, they once more reiterated the need to have all reunification roads properly constructed and tarred notably the about 90-kilometre Bakebe-Fontem-Dschang, and the about 35-kilometre Kumba-Tombel-Loum roads. They expressed happiness that both projects had finalised feasibility studies and are only waiting for work to be ordered.
