State Accountants Update Budget Nomenclature Skills

A workshop on the production of relevant documents held in Yaounde Thursday March 14.State accountants have been drilled on the innovations contained in the 2013 State budget which they are to integrate in their daily operations so as to produce documents with relevant information for better decision-making by authorities. An explanatory workshop organised by the Ministry of Finance on the harmonised accounting and budgetary nomenclature for the year held in Yaounde Thursday March 14 on the theme, "Streamlining the balance of treasury accounts and mastering transfer operations between accounts."

The various stakeholders in the treasury network were lectured on, "Innovations in the 2013 Finance Law and circular, innovations in the accounting nomenclature of the treasury, follow up of proceeds of the local tax system and mastery of risks related to its recording, the importance of acknowledged rights in public accounting, evolutions in the nomenclature of treasury accounts and on the new form of depositors and treasury correspondents with software application.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of Treasury, Serge Abouem A Boul, said although traditional, the workshop offered the accountants the opportunity to review their accounting procedures and the state of government accounts. Through the workshop, he said, accountants learnt how to ensure celerity in the State accounting system so that the deadline for paying service providers, which is almost always the outcry of many suppliers, would be shortened. Like Mr Abouem, the Sub Director for General Affairs at the Directorate of Treasury, Njei Richard Akwambu, said "We are expected at the end of the workshop to be more skilled in the way we do our work so as to give relevant information."
