Students decry new taxi prices

Students who recently resumed school are faced with a new challenge; the increase in the price of the taxi since July. Unlike last year, the taxi fares have risen by 50 F. this is what prompted some parents to review the amount of the budget for transport of their children.

Some have had to give a little more than they used to give for taxis fare. "Instead of 2,000 F per week that I usually spend, I had to add 500 F to my son's fare since his school is at Cetic Ngoa-Ekelle. The rate is now at 250 F instead of 200 F", says a parent.

However, parents with modest financial incomes have renewed the same budgets than those of last year. "I got 300 F for my daily transportation like last year. Since it is not possible to get a taxi at this price, I was forced to go a good distance before taking a taxi for 150 F', says Aline. Other students have chosen to patronise motorcycle that can carry up to three to four people and is considered affordable.
