The Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, Emmanuel Nganou Njoumessi has signed an agreement with American Investors to provide portable water in Yaounde, Limbe, Tiko and Mutengene.
The representatives of the two American enterprises of General Electric, GE and Environmental Chemical Corporation, ECC were received in audience on 22nd September 2014, by the MINEPAT boss.
To this effect, the city of Yaounde will benefit 55 000 cubic meters of water everyday generated from Akomnyada on the outskirts of the city.
The Director General of the EEC, Mangiv Vohra and his Vice, Richard Ebel told the press after the consortium that the first phase of the water supply project will start in the capital city, Yaounde.
According to the Director General of EEC, the project will take 12 months, but he expects that the personnel concern with the second phase of the project in the cities of Tiko, Limbe and Mutenge effectively kick start on January 2015.
He further talked of the rehabilitation of the water tank in the Nyong in the Centre region with a capacity of 250 000 cubic metres of water supplied daily to the city of Yaounde and its environs.
The Director General of Camwater, Jean Williams Sollo who accompanied the American investors reassured the population that this project in the long term will be able to supply water for 50 months to inhabitants of the city of Yaounde.
It is important to note here that, this business transaction comes only a month after President Paul Biya of Cameroon visited the United States of America for the US –Africa
