Suspects arrested over theft of FCFA 20 Million

Three suspects were recently picked up in Mundemba, headquarters of Ndian Division in the South West Region following the burglary of the Ndian Divisional Treasury on July 20, 2015.

In the course of the incident, over FCFA 20 million was lost to the thieves. According to security sources in Mundemba, the burglars also carried away some household items from the building.

One month after the burglary, gendarmes in Mundemba picked up the three suspects who are still undergoing questioning for possible prosecution. Following the burglary, security officers in Mundemba, accompanied by administrative officials, have been combing the town in search of more suspects and clues as to how the robbery took place.

The measures include stepped up night patrols, impromptu identity checks and night searches of homes. This is also in a bid to nip in the bud any plans by men of the underworld to mount more robbery raids in the town and division.
