Tatiana Silva visits Limbe Hospitals

After launching the kickoff of the petit vélo de Ravel cyclists on Thursday, the Ambassador of UNICEF, Tatiana Silva went in the company of a UNICEF-Cameroon team to pay a visit to children and their mothers in Limbe.

She began her visit with the District Hospital of Bota in Limbe, not far from the sea shores. During the visit, she was briefed on the processes of vaccination in the health centre.

Here, not less than 50 mothers and their offspring followed their immunization programme and advice from health personnel. However, it was noteworthy that with the support of UNICEF, "the Pediatric component has been noted to work best for children" said Dr. Takeng Emilienne, Director of the hospital. Limbe town has 146, 000 inhabitants but 30, 542 are the priority target.

It was also noted that Pediatricians received an average of 20 children per week for hospitalisation not exceeding sometimes 4 days, the 'F + 75' and the 'F 100' are the most commonly used system here.

The main causes of consultation ranged from Malaria to Diarrhea and Anemia, Respiratory infections and skin problems. The delegation led by Ambassador visited the first level hospitals in Buea.
