The Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has stated that commitment, insight and diligence are vital ingredients necessary for men of the communication sector so as to be broad in the year 2016.
Speaking during the traditional New Year wishes in the courtyard of the Ministry, Tchiroma claimed that the central and external services of the Ministry, together with related departments, to wear the coat of peace and discipline that will ensure a smooth running of activities in the year 2016.
During the colorful event that took place on January 22, good health, prosperity, happiness and success in 2016 were among prominent New Year wishes.
Declaring that 2015 was a year of blessing, the Secretary General of MINCOM, Emmanuel Njere, described the MINCOM boss as a Minister who is always available to advise and educate people on what to do.
Wishing that the successes of 2015 should continue into the year 2016, the Secretary General said efforts will be put forward to ensure a smooth transfer from analogue to digital broadcasting.
In response, the Minister hailed the communication family for their cooperation and urged media professionals to collaborate with security forces in provision of adequate information to the administration.
Announcing the complete switch from analogue to digital in 2016 and reiterating his call for greater solidarity, the Minister said 2016 remains a challenging year.
Highlights of the ceremony included the decoration of Charles Ndongo of CRTV with labour medal in recognition to his loyalty and services to the State and recognition of some communication staff going on retirement.
According to Charles Ndongo: “I am very happy for the encouragement and I think, this is a call to work harder. I will ensure that responsible communication is practised in the public and private sectors as well as empowering journalists to execute their work diligently.”
The occasion was spiced by musical demonstration from the CRTV orchestra and some artists.
