Teachers of nursery and primary, public and private schools are currently being drilled on how to better handle pupils with disabilities in a three-day workshop.

The workshop has been organized by a Non-Governmental Organization known in its French Acronym as PROMHANDICAM which caters for the well-being of people living with disabilities.

To better prepare them for a healthy school start teachers were asked to use pupils who are not disabled to help the disabled. This according to facilitators can enhance one of UN’s objectives of achieving inclusive education.

The participants who had earlier received some didactic materials from their respective institutions in preparation for the new academic year rated the workshop as an added advantage especially for teachers handling pupils with disabilities.

Facilitators hope at the end of the workshop that inclusive education where the visually, physically and mentally impaired pupils are taught together with others goes effective as the new school year begins come September seven.

The three-day workshop which began on Wednesday 2nd September ends on Friday 4th September 2015.
