Tension mounts between Guinea and Cameroon

Bilateral relations between Cameroon and Guinea could cool down following the diplomatic incident. The chief diplomat of Guinea, Louncény Fall, requested an explanation from Cameroonian authorities after a delegation from Conakry, including two members of Parliament, was pushed back at the Douala international airport.

The Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated having taken steps to try to understand this incident. "We are trying to see exactly what happened in Douala," advised the Minister.

We try to explain (to other countries) upon departure from Conakry, that Guineans are not carriers because they had been tested before their departure. Of course we know that Cameroon is border with Nigeria. And to arrive in Cameroon, travelers have had to go through other countries. But when there are such cases, I think that people should have to do tests.

The Asky flight, which was carrying the Guinean delegation to participate in the fourth edition of the universities for governance in extractive industries, was not allowed to land, on the pretext that on board were people from Guinea, country hit by the Ebola virus.

François Louncény Fall reaffirmed that to date, "it has never been proven that a passenger taken initially from Conakry in an airplane has been tested positive in another country. He said that all the passengers departing from Conakry, regardless of their rank, are subject to a medical test.
