Territorial Administration staff educated on defence of state interest

The staff of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation MINATD, will this Thursday 29th October wrap up a workshop intended to upgrade skills on how to handle legal proceedings.

The workshop that started on 28th October 2014 has been organised by MINATD to build the capacities of workers on legal issues especially during presentation of a defence submission in court or when giving legal advice.

On the benches for the two-day workshop are Directors of Legal Affairs Departments in governor’s offices in the ten regions and First Assistant Senior Divisional Officers from the Centre, South and East Regions.

While opening the workshop, the Secretary General of MINATD, Pierre Essomba indicated that the workshop is within routine training programmes at the ministry aimed at impacting officials with legal skills at a time when government has began the process of decentralisation.

He said that decentralisation now requires each governor to designate a legal affairs expert in his region to handle any case and defend the interest of the State.

The seminar comes at a time when there are reports that cases are called up in administrative courts without a state representation.
