The Presidential Couple is back in the country

After taking part in the canonization mass at the Vatican, President Paul Biya and Mme arrived Yaounde this Tuesday 29th April 2014.

The Presidential plane arrived Yaounde at 16:45 PM. Amidst animation from CPDM militants, the first couple was greeted at the foot of the plane by top government dignitaries. On the frontline of these dignitaries to whom the President granted brief airport audiences were;

• Marcel Niat Njifenji, President of the SENAT • Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, Speaker of the National Assembly • Philemon Yang, Prime Minister and Head of Government • Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Minister Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic • Stefano Pontelissi, Italian Ambassador to Cameroon • Mgr Piero Pioppo, Apostolic Noncio of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea • Jan De Bruyne, Ambassador of Belgium to Cameroon

It is worth recalling that the President of the Republic comes back after a month in Europe during which he played an active part in the 4th European Union-Africa summit in Belgium. The summit was a platform for reflection on the theme “investing in populations for peace and prosperity”

President Paul Biya, on the occasion, called for peace in the Central Africa Republic through the deployment of a United Nations peace keeping contingent in the country.

His call was heeded to, according to United Nations Organization resolution 2149 of 10th April 2014, a 12 thousand man contingent shall be sent to that country from 15th September 2014 to replace the present African joint force.
