In addition to the completion of the architectural study of the central prison in Douala-Ngoma, the 22 existing prisons will also be rehabilitated.
The Minister of justice Mr. Laurent Esso chaired Monday, December 15, 2014, in his Ministerial Department conference room, the 8th annual meeting of the regional delegates of the prison administration extended to public prosecutors in appellate courts. The phenomenon of escapes in Cameroonian prisons will guide this meeting, which will be completed today, December 16, 2014.
During his opening speech, in line with the theme, the keeper of seals solemnly announced the construction of new prisons like the central prison in Bali in the Northwest region, the finalization of the architectural study of the central prison in Douala-Ngoma; the rehabilitation of 22 existing prisons, and also the strengthening of staff through the recruitment of new personnel.
Laurent Esso did not forget the initiatives taken by the authorities to continue the modernization of the national prison system, the keeper of seals especially said that, the finalization of the proofreading of some texts including that on the individual personnel, technical graduates package and the reorganization of the National School of prison administration of Buea was underway.
