The development of Cameroon railway lines intensifies

The Cameroonian Ministry of public works launched Thursday a call for the expression of interest on the implementation of the feasibility studies of priority railway routes in the country covering a total of 1802 kilometres.

It focuses on the financing of internal resources and with the assistance of partners who have already expressed interest in these sites, to compile a list of accredited technical studies, law firms or groups of consultants invited to submit a technical and financial proposal for the short term routes provided for in the national railway Master Plan.

Such routes, we learn, are largely intended to promote the mining potential, and also to establish an industrial dynamics and a synergy between three main towns Douala (Littoral), Kribi (South) and blade (South-West).

Thus, the new Ngaoundéré-Kousseri (684 km) route will enable the continuity of the Transcameroon towards the northern part of the country, with, among other things, the opening up of Chad as well as taking account of the induced traffic of the region of Northeastern Nigeria, and potentially a way to interconnect with Dakar-Port, Sudan which is in the project.
