The sub-prefect in Mokolo disowned by population

He is accused of embezzling part of the money for the purchase of equipment to fight against Boko Haram.

The ceremony for the handing of material for fight against Boko Haram planned September 26, 2014 did not please the crowd at Mokolo. Consisting of machetes and arrows, this material was intended to combat the multiple assaults experienced by populations of this area. Only populations, traditional and political authorities do not have. "We have not enjoyed the ceremony. We'll say what guests and the beneficiaries of the provenance of these materials.

“The amount collected for these equipments outstrips spending on purchases of these devices the sub-prefect presented," explains a traditional leader of the town. In fact, on the initiative of the Governor of the region of the far North, administrative authorities were given the task to ask traditional chiefs to set up vigilance committees to shade the terrorists, who largely use motorbikes to sow fear and disorder in the cities and the countryside.

In the Borough of Mokolo, the sub-prefect Théophile Beina Nguia, together with the two heads of canton, decided to follow the instructions of the Governor by placing in 200 villages more than 1500 young people in the field and whose mission is to filter all the inputs and outputs of the villages and districts, an initiative which was appreciated by all.

After the establishment of the vigilance in June 2014 Committee, the sub-prefect Beina Nguia required that 200 francs be collected per family but he was asked to put an end to such practice, unfortunately, the instructions given by the hierarchy remained unheeded, because the sub-prefect continued to implement this decision.

What led to his rejection by the populations and the fiasco on Friday 26th. "We agree to defend our borough, but he should not take advantage of this to come present us material that represents perhaps half of the money that was collected and Rob poor people," says a local elite.
