The start of the New Year has been great for thousands of gendarmes and soldiers who recently received news of promotion in rank. They gladly welcomed the dawn of 2015 yesterday January 1 at the Headquarters Brigade in Yaounde at a ceremony chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o, in the presence of some cabinet ministers.
A rendition of the Carousel special number by a military band ushered in the first part of epaulette-award ceremony to some deserving officers (from sub-lieutenants to colonels) promoted by Presidential decree on December 24, 2014.
Some Non-commissioned Officers (from Major Senior Warrant Officer to Major Warrant Officers) also received promotion as per the ministerial order of December 25, 2014. The last lap was dedicated to rank and file soldiers after, which the public was treated to a spectacular military march past.
Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o reassured Cameroonians that the military was determined to combat the Boko Haram insurgency. He praised the population for their unanimous support, which to him, is contributing greatly to the positive results on the field.
