The Nigerian Cement dealer is poised to exploit the Tombel quarry in the Kupe Muanengumba Division of the South West Region for the Dangote Cement Factory based in Douala.
The project is expected to create more than 100 direct jobs to the youths Tombel as begins to exploit a local quarry in the Tombel Sub-Division.
The Divisional Officer for Tombel Sub-Division, Ayuk Edward, assured the community that the Dangote project in Tombel had been authenticated by the Ministry of Mines, Industries and Technological Development and the Tombel Council.
The government visa gives Dangote a five year permit under the condition that his company will be allocated a 27 hectares piece of land in the area. In return, he will have to pay a sum of about 2.7 million CFAF annually to the state and construct the Tombel-Loum road.
The Tombel-Loum road is a 10 km highway which links the South West and the Western Regions of Cameroon. The bad nature of this road has for many years retarded development in the area.
The project is expected to effectively takeoff by November 2014 after the installation of electricity at the project site.
Beside jobs at the quarrel, the constructing the Tombel-Loum road will also create employment for many indigenes of Tombel.
