Four co-operation agreements were signed, Thursday in Tunis, at the end of the 10th session of the Tunisian-Cameroonian high joint commission.

The agreements were signed by Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and Cameroonian opposite number Lejeune Mbella Mbella in the fields of land registry, handicrafts and management of persons with specific needs.

At the opening of works, Jhinaoui called for identifying means to speed up the pace of trade exchanges and make the most of the incentives offered by bilateral agreements, calling for inaugurating news co-operation fields, notably in agriculture, education, training, procurement contracts, transports and ICTs.

The two diplomats agreed to hold a follow-up meeting, in 2017 in Yaoundé, of the recommendations issued from the high joint commission.

According to a Foreign Ministry press release, the meeting offered the occasion to re-assert Tunisia’s determination to foster relations with the African Continent in various fields, in compliance with the recommendations issued from the foreign minister’s last meeting with African ambassadors accredited to Tunisia.

The meeting was also an occasion to stress the need to co-ordinate efforts to fight terrorism, a scourge that is threatening Africa’s stability particularly in the Sahel and Sahara region, according to the same source.
