The Nigeria Immigration Service, Benue State command on Monday arrested two Cameroonian illegal immigrants in Kwande Local Government Area of the state with fake currencies in their possession.
The state controller, Mr. Thomas Bagobiri, told our correspondent that the foreigners were on Wednesday) transferred to the Abuja headquarters of the service for further investigation.
Bagobiri said the arrest was made possible with the new border patrol corp reinvigorated by the Controller General of the service.
He gave the names of the illegal foreign nationals as Peter Chi and Taneyon Nelson Musa.
According to him the NIS has risen to the occasion of not allowing foreigners who are a security threat to enter into the country.
He said, “We arrested them and got 2.9m CFA Cameroonian currency, but we can tell whether it is genuine or not at this level but Abuja will do that.
“As far as we are concerned these people are not supposed to be in Nigeria and as they are here now we do not know exactly what they are here for because generally there is not road through Benue to Cameroon but just a footpath.”
He commended the people of the area for their cooperation with the Immigration and other security agencies, which has resulted in the arrest of the illegal foreigners.
