The Association for the defence of rights of students in Cameroon (ADDEC) revealed to the national and international community that its Secretary General Tchaleu Barthélémy and its housing Secretary Nana Clovis were arrested and beaten on the Campus of the University of yaounde 1 on the orders of the Rector, Pr Maurice Aurélien Sosso.

They are currently in custody of police at the fifth district police station, where Tchaleu Barthélémy have been on hunger strike since Friday, October 10, 2014.

Indeed, on Friday, October 10, 2014, while Nana Clovis returned home after his course, he was physically assaulted and seriously injured by Security University (Campus police) officers, supported by two gendarmes previously recruited by the University to expedite operations of pre-registration.

He was subsequently incarcerated in a cell fitted to this effect at the Rectorate. Tchaleu Barthélémy, on hearing what had happened visited the site to look into the situation of his comrade.Upon his arrival, he was also assaulted and arrested by the same individuals.

The elements of the 5th district police station, contacted by the Rector later took them in custody.

This hardly nameable act follows the temporary exclusion for two academic years of Tchaleu Barthélémy (Secretary General of the ADDEC) and by Batoum Thierry (President of the ADDEC) respectively from the Ecole Nationale supérieur Polytechnique (ENSP) and of Ecole Normale Supérieur(ENS) in Yaoundé.

Currently, the Rector of the University of Yaounde 1 organized a militia for physical aggression all over the place, on the campus of the University of yaounde1 for the members of the ADDEC.
