Two suspected Boko Haram members arrested in Minawou

Two unidentified men were arrested inside a Nigerian refugee camp on August 6, in the Gawar area of the Minawou village, a town 20 kilometers in the south of Mokolo, capital of the department of Mayo -Tsanaga.

According to the police, the alleged members of Boko Haram have entered the camp during their watch and it was during a routine search, they were discovered.

"All refugees in the camp are clearly identified, we had no difficulties spotting them. After being arrested, it was discovered that the two suspects were covered with large and suspicious wounds bandaged, and scars” says a police source.

When arrested, the suspects were in possession of Nigerian national identity cards. They justified their presence in the camp by their "wish to be registered as refugees."

Their request was rejected by the police who considered the suspects were Boko Haram spies that came to prepare the ground for a possible attack.

The suspects were taken under escort to Maroua for further investigation.

The next day, three unidentified bodies were found by villagers on their return from Mokolo market along a river in the town of Gawar, near to the Pomla village. This unusual discovery was reported to the police.

After the arrival of a medical examiner, the bodies were examined in the presence of villagers, the results of the forensic reports found several bullet wounds, injuries and numerous cuts on their bodies. None of the dead was a Pomla resident.

According to the police, there might be a link between the discovery of the bodies and the arrest of the two suspects, just because the wounds and scars found on the dead bodies are identical to those of the suspects arrested, also the time between the date of the arrest and the discovery of the bodies, reinforces this idea.

"These suspects are part of Boko Haram and have been chased by the Nigerian Army to the Cameroon border. They would be among the attackers who carried out the attack on the Cameroonian town of Gossi-Tourou last April, “they think.

The Gossi-Tourou attack had then resulted in the deaths of a dozen people and the injury of a Cameroonian soldier.
