UNESCO partners’ meeting to hold in Yaounde

Félix Loïteonhin YE paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education on April, 11, 2016.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, on Monday, April 11, 2016, met the Resident Representative of the Multisectoral Regional Office of UNESCO for Central Africa, Félix Loïteonhin YE.

Félix Loïteonhin YE said the purpose of the meeting was to inform the Minister of the Regional Meeting of UNESCO Partners to hold in Yaounde from April 20-22, 2016. He said the goal is to involve youths in development and also mobilise them to be promoters of peace.

Mounouna Foutsou said the meeting was timely as the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education was already carrying out a national civic education campaign. He said the mobilisation of youths to participate in development is a major concern of government.

The three-day meeting will bring together members of the Economic Community of Central Africa States and also some specific ministries such as Youth Affairs, Culture, Environment and Forestry. It will be an opportunity for members to discuss UNESCO’s two-year cooperation programme and revisit the role and contribution of each partner structure and the implementation of specific points of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education is expected to designate two officials to take part in the meeting of UNESCO partners.
