US Embassy introduces new procedures for obtaining visa

Pamela Kazi, consular of USA in Yaounde met with the media on Tuesday, July 22, to explain the innovations introduced into the procedure for obtaining an appointment for non - immigrant visas which will take effect from July 31.

The United States Embassy recently found a solution to the multiple harassment suffered by users, by modifying the procedures for obtaining an appointment for non-immigrant visas. This development came as a result of the fact that cyber traffickers were specialized in online trading of appointments with the United States Embassy, which they later sold on auction.

As from now, the sum of 80 thousand francs equivalent to the visa application fee must first be paid to the bank, after which the information contained in the payment receipt will thus allow access to the Web site of the Embassy.

“With the new appointment system, you will have the ability to schedule your interview on the date that suits you, with several options for your Visa payment, and the wide availability of dates and venue for legitimate travelers, thus allowing a better harmonisation of our visa procedure.

The new appointment system is available online at the site http:/french.yaounde.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas_fr.html website», says a press document placed at the disposal of the media men by the Embassy at this press briefing.

To assist applicants who have difficulty accessing the site or understanding of the procedures for online application, a call centre operational all days from 8 am to 8 pm has been created within the Embassy at (237) 33.42.48.06. According to Pamela Kazi, this system "already works very well in other countries and has been very reliable so far."
