A team of control campaign for monitoring, punishment of road traffic offences is at work in the field since Saturday, April 04, 2015 at Adjinkol, Eastern region.
Having as main mission the suppression of acts of delinquency by motorists on Bertoua-Garoua-Boulai axis, the team collected for this first outing 600 000 CFA FRANCS in fines, to which must be added numerous cases of attempted bribery.
Guilty road users of the Garoua-Boulaï–Bertoua axis were surprised by the strong presence Saturday, April 04, of the gendarmes road Brigade led by Colonel Enow Joseph Eyong, Commander of the legion of gendarmerie of the East.
This decision follows recurring road accidents on the Bertoua-Ngaoundéré axis even after the bloody episode of Friday, March 26, 2015 where 17 people were killed while 20 others were injured.
Public transport and private vehicles appreciated the presence of the gendarmes for identity checks and handing leaflets of awareness given to everyone.
On the other hand, many drivers will have to answer in the coming days to the tribunal to address the flagrant offence of bribery of the police on the ground.
Colonel Dieudonné Ewoudi Ebene, head of the "detachment bravo" control, surveillance and repression campaign noted that "75% of offences have been recorded and contraventions in addition of 600,000 FCFA recovered".
