University of Douala employs technology in academic system

Digital terminals in the Central Library of the University, computer and video projector in the amphi theatres are a few projects envisaged for the new academic year.

The announcement was made by the Rector, during a recent Board of Directors' meeting chaired by the Chairman of the Board, Pr Ngando Mpondo. The meeting was to examine the management, management material, and also to assess performance reports engaged in the budget programme.

According to sources, the University hosted this year nearly 20 thousand new students. A few days after re-entry, it was therefore important to call this meeting which brought together the heads of the various institutions and several officials of the administration to revisit what marked the previous year.

As a reminder, the year 2013-2014 experienced several major activities for the development of the institution. Among other things, the Organization of the academic and vocational guidance days and the signature of the University-Gicam convention were cited.

After this brief balance of the previous year, attention was placed on large projects for the current year. The Rector, Pr Dieudonne Oyono revealed that in the coming days, his institution will create material that could improve the academic conditions of students.

This consists of a digital library and a computer with a video projector to replace blackboards. "In a few days we'll hire three digital terminals in the Central Library of the University, these terminals have a capacity of 100,000 books each. The second flagship project, we offer to put in each amphi theatre a computer and a video projector so we can deliver lectures in power point”, he explained.
