Several students who were not enlisted under this annual gratuity of the head of State expressed their anger on Tuesday, forcing the Rector, Professor Dieudonne Oyono to call for a crisis meeting.
The names of 14676 students benefiting from presidential grant as well as 5629 students whose records were rejected was put up.
On the spot, small groups quickly wrote queries for which the admissibility period was set at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the various faculties by the Rector, Professor, Dieudonne Oyono.
Some students who were not too sure of the reasons for the rejection of their files did not hesitate to express their anger Tuesday in the campus, forcing the Rector to call for a meeting.
"This type of problem is recurring annually. At the time when the commission was examining records, they asked for clarification. For example, it checked the level because in the folder, the level of study is not clearly identified, explains the Pr Dieudonne Oyono. To ease the situation, the Rector gave instructions to all school heads to check the level of the complaining students in order to consolidate the list of beneficiaries.
In the meantime, the first wave of the payment transaction began Monday, September 15, 2014 in the different counters in the University of Douala for the occasion. Payments are following an order predetermined until September 22.
Established by the head of State since 2010, the premium for Academic Excellence is awarded to the best students of the universities of Cameroon. The objective of this initiative is to encourage academic merit.
