WHO representative ends diplomatic mission in CMR

The Resident Representative of the World Health Organisation, Charlotte Fatty Ndiaye, has ended her diplomatic mission in Cameroon and her next stop after Cameroon will be Madagascar.

In this light, a farewell dinner in her honour was organised in Yaounde on Friday April 24, 2015.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda, on behalf of the people of Cameroon and partners hailed Charlotte Fatty Ndiaye for her immense contribution in improving the health system in Cameroon.

He said Charlotte Fatty Ndiaye stood by the government of Cameroon in major challenges such as the fight against cholera epidemic in 2011, the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease in 2014 and she contributed in helping Cameroon come out of the list of countries known as exporters of the polio virus.

Minister Mama Fouda further said through her efforts maternal tetanus is no longer a problem in Cameroon, she improved collaboration with other partners and her dynamism helped bring about better coordination of the Ministry of Public Health.

He described her as an untiring worker adding that her five years spent in Cameroon were productive and fruitful, a mission described by the Cameroon government and partners as an accomplished mission.

Earlier Charlotte Fatty Ndiaye said during her stay in Cameroon she had helped improve the health system in Cameroon. She used the occasion to thank all those who contributed in helping the WHO to achieve its objectives. She thanked the Head of State for his support in improving the health of children below five years and pregnant women.

She thanked all national and international partners who together have contributed in ensuring good health for Cameroonians. Charlotte Fatty Ndiaye said she is going to Madagascar but her heart remains in Cameroon.

The event took place in the presence of members of government, the diplomatic corps and invitees who came to pay homage to the dynamic lady.
