Wild polio discovered in CAR refugee camp

Two new cases of wild polio have been recently discovered in a camp hosting refugees from the Central African Republic, CAR in Kette subdivision in the East region.

The discovery now brings to five, the total number of wild polio cases recorded this year in Cameroon.

In response to the 2 new cases, the ministry of public health organised the 7th round of the immunization campaign, targeting children and adults irrespective of their ages.

More strategic campaigns have been scheduled for late August and mid September. In the mean time, the World Health Organisation, WHO country office is underway to evaluate the success of the 7th round started in early August in order to re-classify Cameroon.
