Witness list in the Ambassa Zang case released

The different parties to this case were present at the second hearing Friday in the special criminal court. The second hearing in the case involving the public prosecutor and State of Cameroon against Dieudonne Ambassa Zang, former public works Minister, Pierre Germain Nnah Obono, public servant at Mintp, accused of public diversions in complicity took place Friday in the special criminal court.

They were accused of the embezzlement of 5,820 billion for the main accused and 40,930 million for the second. Scholastique Bikié, former Deputy Director of human resources and equipment, Jean Robert Mengue Meka, former Secretary general and Mekongo Abega Félix Debeauplan, were also accused of complicity of embezzlement of public funds of 36,624 million F, 153,730 million and 153,730 million respectively.

At this hearing which lasted only 20 minutes, the accused Pierre Germain Nnah Obono, Scholastique Bikie and Jean Robert Mengue Meka assisted by their various Councils, presented their list of witnesses.

To balance the number of witnesses, the collegiality of Yap Abdou, president, Claude Michel Onana, Virginie Eloundou, set the number of witnesses to four for compliance needs while requiring the accused to choose the essential links.

In this regard, Bikie Scholastique requested the indulgence of the president for hers to be extended to six witnesses for more evidence. "We are accused and we want at all costs to prove our innocence", says her Council, Me Guillaume Metila.

The hearing came after the first which took place August 20 during which it identified the accused and notified them of their charges. The case was referred to the September 17 for the testimonies of the witnesses.
