Yaounde City Council: new secretary general takes over

The Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, on Thursday October 6, 2016, commissioned the new Secretary General to the City Council, Gabriel Essoa Eloi.

He takes over from Alphonse Roger Ondoa Akoa, who was appointed General Manager of the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation, Camwater.

Gilbert Tsimi Evouna assured the new Secretary General of his support and wished him well as he carries out his task. As Secretary General, Gabriel Essoa Eloi, has the duty to coordinate work of the City Council, implement the policy decided by the Government Delegate, ensure prompt processing of files, the definition of the internal procedures in the City Council, periodically evaluate the activities and ensure the continuous training of staff.

The new Secretary General indicated that he will continue in the footsteps of his predecessor and also improve the sanitary state of the city.

Gabriel Essoa Eloi was born on January 21, 1961 in Betschenga in the Lekié Division of the Centre Region. After obtaining a degree in Law in the University of Yaounde 1, he got admission into the National Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM, where he obtained a Diploma in Civil Administration in 1986.

He later worked in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Housing and Urban Development where he occupied several posts before embarking on a long prefectural career.

Prior to his appointment, Gabriel Essoa Eloi was the Senior Divisional Officer for Upper Nkam Division in the West Region. He is married and father of seven.
