Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation chaired the event on September 14.
The new councilors and council executive of the Yaounde IV Council who will be voted during the September 30, 2013 twin elections, will work in a new magnificent council complex whose inauguration on September 14, 2013 was chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation in charge of Local Authorities, Jules Doret Ndongo.
The over FCFA 450 million one storey building located at the Ekonou neighbourhood, has 35 offices, a 150-capacity conference room and is endowed with several other modern facilities. The building project was initiated in 2003 by the then Mayor, Ottou née Ntsama Belinga Jeanne, continued by late Mayor Abega Mbida Théophile who died in 2012 and his term of office was continued by Mayor Bibi épse Amougou Noma Régine who completed the project.
The Council complex project carried out in different phases, according to Mayor Bibi épse Amougou Noma Régine and the Director General of the Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, Philippe Camille Akoa was partly funded by FEICOM.
Minister Jules Doret Ndongo in his inauguration speech said the complex was a place of emergence at local level, convergence and has a great role to play in ensuring the general wellbeing of the local population. He called on the civic responsibility of all to preserve and maintain the structure.
The Minister equally used the occasion to state government's efforts within the framework of the decentralization process. The heavily attended ceremony, interspaced with dance displays, was also used to award gold, silver and bronze medals to meritorious staff of the council.
