Yaounde Transport Forum Due Next Year

The Chief Executive Officer of the International Transport Industry (ATREXPO), Jay Vom Vadiveloo has announced that his company will organise a transport fair at the Yaounde Conference Centre from February 14 to 17, 2013. He spoke at a press briefing in Yaounde on Wednesday June 20. The exhibition that will bring together stakeholders in the rail, maritime, aviation and land transport industries, including consulting and finance companies and builders, will enable participants to share knowledge, promote products, discover new technologies, sell equipment and network.

Jay Vom said as at press time, about eight companies from different countries including Canada, United State of America, China, United Kingdom and South Korea, had already confirmed their participation. The CEO, who served as the General Sales Agent for the defunct Cameroon Airlines in Canada, said the exhibition will comprise an automobile show where dealers of new cars will showcase their products. The event will provide the opportunity for service providers and financing companies to meet. It will equally include four seminars on civil aviation and security, economic development and tourism.

The forum which has as main objective to promote direct foreign investments in Cameroon by creating concrete opportunities for transport partnerships will hold in Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2014 and 2015 respectively. As to why Cameroon is first on the list, Vadiveloo said the peace that reigns in the country and the good infrastructure like the Yaounde Conference Centre were some of the motivating factors. On the other hand, Cameroon like other African countries lacks training in the sector, thus, the exchange between international experts and their Cameroonian counterparts will be of help to the latter.
