Yaounde Vii Council Holds First Session

FCFA 885.8 million was adopted as 2014 budget on Thursday December 19, 2013.

The Yaounde VII Council in Mfoundi Division of the Centre Region has voted FCFA 885.8 million as budget for the 2014 financial year. This was during the first council session in Yaounde on December 19, 2014 after the September 30, 2013 twin polls that saw a new executive led by Augustin Tamba, put in place.

The budget has witnessed an increment of FCFA 377.1 million from 2013, Augustin Tamba noted in his speech. He said the 2013 budget stood at FCFA 508.6 million and next year's increase is justified by the Council's desire to pursue more development reforms. Prominent in the council's road map is to execute the Municipal Complex that was initiated by the former council executive.

The complex is expected to host a ceremonial hall, library, multi-media centre and administrative offices, just to name a few. The Council also intends to construct a commercial bloc in Mbog-doum and Oyom-Abang as well as shops in Nkolbisson neighbourhoods. Street lighting and the digging of boreholes have also been included in the Council's 2014 roadmap.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Mfoundi Division, Jean Claude Tsila, was represented at the ordinary session by one of his deputies, Christian Ateba.
