Yaounde, other cities gear up preparations to usher in 2015

The streets of Yaounde and other cities in the country are booming with zest and colour as its inhabitants prepare to enter the new year.

It is common place to find shops filled with excited customers making last minutes preparations to welcome the new year.

The markets are not left out of the picture as they seem overcrowded with hawkers, traders and buyers all struggling to buy goods and services that will give them just the taste and new twist in the coming year.

Major streets, roundabouts and relaxation zones are filled with people having fun, sharing a drink or two and taking snapshots, while others put on broad smiles as they wish fellow friends a happy New Year.

The trade fair grounds popularly referred to as Ya-Fe is another popular zone of attraction with numerous guests excitedly flooding in and out of the exhibition grounds.

In the meantime, the Christian community is also preparing in earnest to usher in the new year.

In some Churches downtown Yaounde, the Pastors and Christians are planning a special evening service on 31st December 2014, scheduled to last till midnight.

Such services will feature choral singing, song presentations and candle-lighting, amongst others.

As Yaounde inhabitants enjoy the beauty and colour of the season, the police is on the alert as could be noticed with their numerous posters all over the town and their continuous patrols especially in the evening.

Hospitals are not exempted from the scenario. With the rise in crime wave during this period, emergency units in hospitals are prepared to attend to any cases of excesses.

Still on the side-lines of the new year, Cameroonians even in the diaspora are highly expectant of the Head of States 31st traditional speech, that reviews achievements in the last and proposes solutions and future plans for the new year.

With the pomp and colour in Yaounde as in other ten regions of the country, it is almost certain that its inhabitants are set to enter the new year 2015 with optimism.
