Young diplomat, Maxwell Achu arrested for forgery

For two weeks now, Maxwell Achu has been detained at Kondengui. At the Ministry of External Relations, Achu's case was over shadowed by the extraordinary Summit of the heads of State of the economic community of Central Africa States (ECCAS), which was held on Monday in Yaounde.

In the corridors of this Ministerial Department, everything was geared towards a "diplomatic success" for Cameroon especially in a determining step in the war against Boko Haram.

That been said, in addition to the Summit of the ECCAS, other issues came up yesterday including the case of "forgery" which led Maxwell Achu to Kondengui central prison about two weeks ago.

Aged 27, he was integrated into the Minrex two years ago, after he left the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC), diplomacy. He was noted to have never worked under the current Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.

At the time when the latter was the Minrex SG, Maxwell Achu was not yet part of Minrex. Previously in service at the general secretariat of the Minrex, the young diplomat lend his services to the Inspectorate responsible for Consular Affairs.

Repeatedly, Maxwell Achu falsified the signature of the current Secretary General of the Minrex to establish orders of internal missions, which are usually big in terms of money for the beneficiaries.

After analysis of the complaints made by users and the having caught in flagrante delicto of forgery, his hierarchical Chief asked the police to open an investigation, which eventually landed him in Kondengui prison.

The arrest of Maxwell Achu occurred with the active assistance of the competent services of the Minrex. The police are still working to dismantle the network to which the diplomat was part of.

He was also unable to orchestrate some fraud on diplomatic passports, because the manufacture and issuance of this coin are subject to a strict security.
