The first preparatory meeting towards the 2014 National Youth Day held in Douala on Wednesday January 8, 2014.
Ahead of the 48th edition of the National Youth Day, 11 commissions have been put in place to ensure a befitting celebration for the youth in the Littoral Region. This was the major outcome of the first preparatory meeting that held yesterday Wednesday January 8 at the Banquet Hall of the Governor's Office. Presided at by the Head of Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs Division, Joseph Elongo, the about two-hour meeting regrouped all heads of services concerned with the upcoming event.
Other issues that featured on the agenda included a report of activities of last year's 47th edition, during which weeklong activities culminated in a grand march past on February 11; a presentation of this year's programme and discussions for proposals on how to register a hitch-free commemoration. Though this year's theme is still undisclosed, the various commission presidents and members were urged to hold regulate meetings so as to better coordinate their work on the field. Sports, human investment, socio-cultural and economic activities have been earmarked to render celebrations more meaningful.
