A three-day workshop organised by the Parliamentary Youth Affairs Network (REJE) kicked off at the Glass Palace on August 10, 2015.

The workshop organized to boost the leadership skills of 100 young men and women from the eight sub-divisional executives of the National Youth Council’s Mfoundi Divisional branch in the Centre Region, and provide them with information on income-generating opportunities, ends today, August 12, 2015 at the National Assembly.

“You must banish the cult of immediateness which exposes you to risks and temptations that could compromise your future. You should know, dear youth, that the future is constructed each day. This capacity-building workshop will certainly contribute to preparing the way for a better and solid future,” said the Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Theodore Datouo, on August 10, 2015 while opening the workshop organised by the Parliamentary Youth Affairs Network, REJE.

Explaining the motives for the training, the President of the Mfoundi Divisional Branch of the National Youth Council (NYC), Lucie Molo Awono, stated that the local structures of the NYC were not active, thereby hampering work.

According to REJE’s Coordinator, Hon. Gaston Komba, the first two days of the training offered by Junior Chamber International (JCI), focused on issues such as the organisation of youth, networking, the art of oratory and communication as well as project and time management, amongst others.

Today, the trainees will be given information by various officials of State programmes and projects such as PAJER-U, PIASSI and PAIJA, just to mention a few, on opportunities for sponsored self-employment initiatives. Each Sub-divisional Executive received computer equipment and printers offered by several MPs.
