As activities are steaming up nationwide ahead of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the National Youth Day, the Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Paediatric Hospital has put in place a special program to help the youth health wise.

In this year’s edition, the program will run every Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm with a common objective, offer an opportunity for the youth, especially young girls aged between 10 and 19 years to learn as well as ask all troubling questions related to their health.

For instance, seek medical advice on health issues relating to their menstrual cycle, HIV AIDS, chlamydia, family planning, vaccination, STIs, how to avoid and handle early pregnancy, how to handle other health and societal related problems such as rape matters, just to name but these.

According to Dr Charles Nsom Mba, Deputy Director General of Gynaeco-Obstetric and Paediatric Hospital, the Hospital decided to launch the teenage health program dubbed “Adolescence clinic” to lay emphasis on the importance of helping the youth break the silence.

Dr Charles Nsom further noted that the program is of utmost importance given that youths nowadays find it difficult to confide their health problems. The adolescence clinic platform thus will go a long way to help teenagers have frank discussions with health practitioners who will be available to provide them with appropriate solutions.

The program which is in its second edition will be punctuated by educational sketches during which youths will express their knowledge on how to properly watch their hands, clean their mouth and other hygiene related aspects.By Kelvin Nembo Njuhsop
