Youths pledge collaboration against terrorism

This was during the 49th edition of the National Youth Day celebration in Kumba.

Youths of Meme Division in the South West Region on February 12, 2015, joined their counterpart nationwide to celebrate the 49th edition of the National Youth Day. The event had as theme, “Youths and the preservation of peace for an emergent Cameroon.”

The youths also extended a motion of support to President Paul Biya for his fight against Boko Haram terrorists. This was seen through messages on placards as they marched past in front of the grandstand. This year’s Youth Day theme, it should be noted, comes at a time Cameroon and the world at large are experiencing serious threats to peace and security from terrorism.

Presiding at the ceremony in Kumba, the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Koulbout Aman David, congratulated the youths for their massive turnout. He encouraged them to keep maintaining peace as Cameroon cannot become emergent if youths, who are future leaders, are divided. The SDO furthermore called on the youths to give their total collaboration and join President Paul Biya in the fight against the Boko Haram sect that remains a major threat to the peace and stability of the nation.

Koulbout Aman David urged youths, especially the unemployed, not to allow themselves to be manipulated, but to try to eke a living while waiting for the creation of the 350,000 jobs announced for this year by the Head of State.

The SDO also used the occasion to reiterate the fight against illegal immigration and called on the population, especially the Chiefs, to immediately report any suspected people in their midst by providing proper information to the authorities or security forces.
