The group was among other music artists that held the Douala public spellbound in thrilling tunes throughout December 20, 2013.
End-of-year music concerts rocked the metropolis of Douala over the weekend.
Most former cinema halls and recreational areas were venues for young people and fans of all musical genre. At the premises of the Douala Post Office in Bonanjo, a mixed crowd of enthused residents gathered, as popular group singers, X-Maleya, thrilled them holding them spellbound through out Friday night breaking Saturday.
Popular crowd action included a conscious or an unconscious nodding of the head or beating of the feet against the ground or a unison mime that gave an unforgettable taste to the concert. The open air show began as early as 5 pm with other music artists like Boudor, Killamel, Francko, Chidinma, Museba and May.D taking the stage and making some spectacular waves that kept the young of the city coming in. it was a concert mixed with Makossa, reggae, slows and zouks, a kind of mixture that would not have any youth miss it.
To young Ndedi Karmel, the show added a veritable relish to the Christmas break from her varsity studies. She even said that everyone in her class loves X-Maleya. Some of her mates, whose eyes would not wander from the rostrum each time X-Maleya and co placed a firm grip on the microphone, the difference between a spectator and a staging music artists was hard to make as both sets danced to the tune.
Even though most of them were seeing the musicians for the first in a live concert, they quickly recognized them as they used various styles to mount the rostrum, some with caps covering their faces.
The show was organized by MTN Foundation to give the young people a watch of the artists while relaxing at an affordable access rate of FCFA 1,000 to the fenced premises. Yet a great number took to public buildings nearby and watched at a distance on two giant screens.
