The Cameroon Water Utilities compnay (Camwater), the Manager of the infrastructure for drinking water in the country, the Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) and the Cameroonian society of petroleum deposits (SCDP) will be noted by the Bloomfield Investment Pan-African financial rating agency, to assess their credit risk on the capital market.
At the end of the contracts under negotiation, between the above mentioned and the Bloomfield Agency, three months will suffice to assign to these three Cameroonian public corporations a financial rating, prior to the opening of the door of the capital market to the entities concerned.
These three Crown corporations followed the foot steps as the Cameroonian telecoms, Camtel operator, which recently received a rating in local currency BBB long-term, at Boomfield, thus becoming the first company in the history of Cameroon to submit to such exercise.
According to our sources, the quest for financial ratings by these enterprises is the result of a decision by the Cameroonian Government, which wished to see its businesses go on the capital market, in order to finance their projects themselves.
