This is one of the perspectives of the Programme to improve the competitiveness of the family farms (Acefa) for the year 2015.
Although being practiced in an archaic manner, family agriculture contributes to the strengthening of food production and job creation in Cameroon.
Aware of this strength, the Government has set up a program to improve the competitiveness of the family farms (Acefa).
Since 2008, this body works for the modernisation of the apparatus of production of the family farms and their professionalization through technical and economic capacities.
Meeting under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and rural development (Minader), Jean Claude Eko'o Akoafane on Tuesday in Yaoundé, the members of the Steering Committee of this program held their 11th session.
The national coordinator of Acefa, Dr. Bouba Moumini, General Secretaries and directors of departments of guardianship also took part in this meeting.
The agenda focused on the State of technical and financial implementation of the programme during the year 2014. Thus 2014, was marked inter alia by 9,348 producer groups support and follow-up in 734 operations management.
The programme is also extended to all the 10 regions of Cameroon and 30 departments which are to receive support from Council of the Acefa.
Since its inception in 2008, the Acefa has already funded 1,943 cumulative projects. For the current year, it aims in the accompaniment of 1,464 other groupings and the conquest of 14 new departments.
The second phase of the projects will also be financed with 6.5 billion. The focus will also be on the acquisition of 949 new bikes. At the end of the session, the Committee approved technical program by 2015.
