Active projects to an amount of 500 billion Cfa ongoing in Cameroon

In a statement made public on July 21, by the World Bank, on the occasion of the visit to Cameroon by its Vice-president for the Africa region, this international financial institution announced that it currently has a portfolio of "23 active projects" going on in the country, at a total cost of approximately 500 billion francs Cfa (US $ 1.17 billion).

According to the Bretton Woods institution, these projects are "financed at zero rate" under the funds of the International Development Association (IDA), at concessional rate of the WB group, whose main objective is to provide funding to develop the poor regions in the world.

The portfolio of this international financial institution should further thicken, with the admission in April 2014, of Cameroon to the financing of the International Bank for reconstruction and development (IBRD), stop at non-concessional intended rate of the WB, this time aimed at financing "middle-income" countries.
